The Corrs on performing in front of their kids: 'They had no clue what we did'

The Corrs have revealed that performing in front of their children for the first time made them finally see “what their mammies and daddies did for a living.”

The siblings, Andrea, Jim, Caroline and Sharon Corr, took a 10 year break from music to focus on starting their own families – and now they have eight children between them.

“The first time they got to see us perform together was in Hyde Park,” Jim told the Press Association.

“We played to 60,000 people and we had them over the right hand side of the stage, and they were just so excited. It finally dawned on them that this is what their mammies and daddies did for a living.”

“My kids just had no idea. I mean they just had no idea,” Sharon said.

“They’d see the odd video and they’d go, ‘Oh that’s a bit odd.’ And they really didn’t have any idea, and they don’t understand until they actually see you perform.

“It’s really nice for us that they get to see us as well, because I think it would have been a shame if they had never seen us play together, you know?”

The family band also admitted that it can be hard on parents who lived a superstar lifestyle before settling down, and not be able to fully share what the experience was like.

“I think it’s hard on parents, and especially if you’re a stay-at-home mum, and you know that you had a life before and that your children never get to really acknowledge that or know that other side of you,” Caroline admitted.

“And I think it’s kind of just great for the children to know that you did reach for your dreams, so perhaps they could be inspired to do the same.”

The Corrs, who are in the middle of their world tour after releasing their new album White Light, also joked that they could see themselves performing and making music well into the future, even at old age.

“Instead of a tour bus, we’ll have an ambulance and defibrillators.

“We’ll do the concert seated the whole time, some of us from the bed,” Andrea joked.
