Sharing The Love: Our Top 11 Favourite Irish Websites

People love to focus on competition a lot in this industry, who’s breaking which story first, who copied who, whose stats were better, but there’s enough love to go around for everyone.

So let’s all just be friends, have some hugs (metaphorically) and share a little love for one an other.

Here’s a list of our favourite Irish websites, and what they’re all about.

1. Waterford Whispers

If I have to explain to you what this website is then I kind of want you to get off this page right now to be honest.

Waterford Whispers is my daily pick-me-up, with satirical stories about everything Irish you could possibly think of.

Our favourite all time post has to be THIS ONE (anyone in the media will find this spot on).

2. Her.ie

Maximum Media just recently announced they were hiring 42 new people, and it’s been amazing watching a media company continue to grow and expand.

The little sister of JOE.ie, Her.ie has everything female – from publishing viral videos, relationship tips and all the latest news, it’s definitely one of the biggest sites in Ireland.

We love posts like THIS ONE.

3. The Journal

thejournal

Probably the best place online to get up-to-date Irish news, The Journal is always open on a tab.

We do particularly like the Daily Edge section of the site, which is more light-hearted and mixes in some entertainment.

We particularly love posts like THIS ONE.

4. Lovin Dublin

Since we’re sharing the love, we have to give some to Lovin Dublin.

From spot on food reviews to the latest trends as well as stunning photos of our capital, Lovin Dublin always has a post trending online and they’re never afraid of controversy, keeping it real with their opinion pieces.

We love posts like THIS ONE.

5. RTE TEN

RTE TEN

If you are interested in all things entertainment then RTE TEN is great.

As well as news from all around the world, the RTE guys also report on news in Ireland as well as what’s going on with RTE itself and cool movie reviews too.

We love posts like THIS ONE.

6. Broadsheet

broadsheet

I love Broadsheet for all sorts of reasons – one of them being the way they write their headlines and also the strong focus on photo journalism.

It’s hard to describe all the content they cover (because they cover lots of different things) but each post is interesting.

Honestly the post I always read the most is THIS ONE.

7. Shemazing

shemazing

Shemazing is pretty much the same age as Goss, and we have respect for new sites coming out to the big bad world spreading the news around.

You’ll find all things girlie on the site, as well as international entertainment news.

We love posts like THIS ONE.

8. The Taste

taste

It’s only one year old now, but The Taste is already hugely popular.

If you love food, love a good deal and want to know about anything to do with wine then The Taste is for you.

We love posts like THIS ONE.

9. Breaking News

This site pretty much does exactly what is says on the tin.

If you’re looking for quick, up-to-date news then Breaking News is the place for you.

The do also run our news wire service, so we’re slightly biased! But we love posts like THIS ONE.

10. Suburbia Online

suburbiaonline.ie

sub

Fairly new to the online scene, previously Suburbia Magazine, but now we’re loving Suburbia Online.

From all things food and wine to a mixture of news updates, this site has some exciting things to come.

We love posts like THIS ONE.

11. The Independent

indo

Obviously we couldn’t do a list of the top Irish sites without mentioning one of the most popular sites.

I don’t need to explain what the Indo do, and they do it well.

From a mix of breaking news, to investigative pieces, they have it all. This week we loved posts like THIS ONE.
