Sarah Bolger opens up about her new role: 'Playing a real person terrified me'

Sarah Bolger has opened up about her latest role – admitting she was terrified of portraying a real person.

Starring in My All American, the Once Upon a Time star plays Linda Wheeler in the flick which tells the story of a college American football star who gets diagnosed with cancer after winning the national title in 1969.

Playing Freddie Steinmark’s high school sweetheart in the movie, the 24-year-old revealed she was in touch with the real Linda ahead of shooting.

“Linda is in California and she’s going to see the film, and it scares me that she’s going to call me afterwards,” she said.

“I would have completely understood if she didn’t want to speak with me,” she admitted.

“This was a big moment in her life. The love of her life died, and I can’t imagine that’s an easy thing to go back to.

“But she did, and she was so helpful and lovely,” she told Shockya.com.

“She shared all of these images with me, as well as these private notes that she and Freddie shared.

“I also spoke to her on the phone as I walked around the University of Texas campus.

“She said: ‘There’s a post box that we met by.’ That made it real for me that I walking in the footsteps that someone else did,” she added.
