Read My lips! 5 Lip Trends To Rock This Christmas

Winter is a fantastic time for make-up with all the office Christmas parties and festive gatherings happening.

A time to get dressed up and look sharp, Goss HQ love to focus the attention on lips for this season – whether it be a statement red lip or lip stained look.

Taking inspiration from the catwalk, we look at the lips trends you should try this holiday time:

1. See Red

The penultimate trend every Christmas is a red lip. Whether it’s bright or vampy, the look comes back every single year. Always looking chic in festive season, a bold red lip is such a classic look.

When choosing your shade of crimson to flatter your complexion, pale or fair skin tones should try and keep to reds with a blue tone while darker skin can work a red with an orange or plum tone.

Our favourite red lipsticks this holiday time are of course MAC‘s lipstick Russian Red matched with their Cherry lip pencil but for a cheaper alternative we love NYX Snow White with Essence‘s Femme Fatale lip liner.

2. Gloss It

At New York Fashion Week earlier this year, we saw a beauty look we haven’t seen for a long time on the runway – models sporting a glossed lip.

Rodarte, Fendi and Roland Mouret rocked the highly glossed trend making it the perfect winter alternative for the classic red lip this Christmas.

Whether you’re too nervous to pull the bold red statement lip or perhaps you suffer from dry lips during the cooler temperatures, this may be the look for you.

Goss.ie love the the YSL‘s Golden Gloss in Golden Impertinence or L’Oreal‘s Infallible Mega Gloss in Forgive my Sin to work this trend.

3. The ‘Anti-red’ Lip

Perhaps you want a pop of colour this winter but don’t want the effort of having to apply lip liner or lipstick – especially if you’re going to eating a lot of awkward nibbles at the office Christmas party.

This year’s AW 2015 catwalk shows emphasised rich berry hues, pale pinks and warm blush toned lips with just a touch of product – paving the way for tinted lip balms and stains.

Benefit‘s Posietint is the perfect product for this look as well as Revlon‘s ColourBurst Balm Stains which are highly pigmented but also hydrating which Goss HQ loves.

4. Berry Good

Christmas is not all about metallics and red, it’s also about the berry colours – deep purples, mauves and plums.

Dark lips were part of the huge Gothic 90’s revival in 2014 that continued over to the beginning of 2015.

Deep berry hues add a touch of drama that a red lip doesn’t quite achieve and if you’re festive get-togethers involve a black tie than this could be the look to jazz up your outfit.

Sleek‘s True Colour in Smoulder is a beautiful deep plum toned lipstick this season alongside Urban Decay‘s Revolution Lipstick in Venom.

5. Chocolate Kisses

Chocolate’s not only our treat of the season but also a sweet alternative to red lipstick.

Sporting a rich brown is a saucy alternative to your basic burgundy, and it still allows for those moody fall vibes, sure think of our favourite Jenner, Kylie, who always wears the colour.

Remember, if you’re wearing a darker colour – make sure to pop the cheeks with a warm blush to soften the look.

To hit the trend right Goss.ie suggest using Charlotte Tilbury‘s Matte Revolution Lipstick in Bond Girl or MAC‘s Stone which suits light to dark skin tones.
