Is TV3's Midday set for the chop?

TV3 stars have been left in fear over their futures as the broadcaster is set to undergo a huge transformation by new owners Virgin Media Ireland and parent company Liberty Global.

Looking to invest heavily in new programming, a source has claimed ‘cheaper’ shows like Midday, fronted by Elaine Crowley, face being axed.

“Midday doesn’t even register with the existing management of TV3,” a source told the Sun.

“It’s the cheapest to make show on TV3, maybe the cheapest show on Irish TV.”

According to TV insiders, Dyane Connor’s 24 Hours to Kill, which revisits Irish murders with archived material, is another show up for the chop, although it hasn’t aired now for two seasons.

The station was rocked yesterday when TV3’s Chief Executive, David McRedmond announced he was leaving the broadcaster.
