Hozier wins Song of the Year at BBC Music Awards

Hozier has won Song of the Year at the BBC Awards in Birmingham for his hit Take Me to Church.

The singer-songwriter beat off stiff competition from some of the biggest names in music to win the coveted honour.

The Wicklow man took home the final award of the night which is voted by the public.

Other artists nominated in the same category included Ellie Goulding, The Weekend and Mark Ronson as well as self-proclaimed Hozier fan Ed Sheeran.

The 25-year-old was also up for International Artist of the Year – but unfortunately lost out to friend Taylor Swift.

It’s been a whirlwind year for the From Eden singer, who won an Ivor Novello, Billboard Music Award and was named VH1’s Artist of the Year.

Meanwhile, Adele won British Artist of the Year while Jack Garett took how the Newcomer of the Year honour at the BBC event.
