Game of Thrones and Love/Hate stars join RTE drama Rebellion

It’s been revealed Game of Thrones actor Ian McIlhenny and actress Michelle Fairley have joined RTE drama Rebellion.

The five-part series which will air in January 2016 will see the stars behind Catelyn Stark and Baristan Selmy play roles in the national broadcaster’s biggest home made production since Love/Hate.

“Rebellion was always going to be the biggest show on RTE next year, but the addition of these stars from Love/Hate and Game of Thrones takes the show to the next level,” an insider said.

Based on events around the 1916 Easter Rising, Derry actress Michelle and Ian will join former Love/Hate star Ruth Bradley.

The Dubliner who played Darren’s long suffering sister Mary in the gangland crime show has been cast in a lead role in the drama according to a TV insider.

“Michelle plays a supporting in Rebellion as does Ian, but Ruth is on a par alongside Sarah Greene and Charlie Murphy,” a source told the Sunday World.

“Ruth was an obvious choice for the show that the whole country is going to be talking about.”
