EXCLUSIVE! Look WHO dropped in – The Who's Roger Daltrey dines in Dublin

The Who’s frontman Roger Daltrey hit up North County Dublin restaurant The Windmill last night.

Speaking to Goss.ie, Ollie Grimes, manager of the Skerries eatery, opened up about meeting the iconic rock singer and being invited to dinner with the British star.

“Yesterday afternoon a personal friend of Roger’s arrived in and said ‘we’ve Roger [Daltrey] coming down this evening, do you have a table available?’ I said ‘have we what’,” Ollie admitted.

“So he arrived down at about seven o’clock or so, I had a little chat with him outside [in The Snug pub] and he said ‘do you want to join us for dinner? We’d love to just have a chat’ and I said ‘absolutely that would be great’,

“He’s just a nice, easygoing fella who just likes to go fishing on his time off – he loves the sea so he loves coming down to Skerries,” he shared with Goss.ie.

The singer who is staying in Ballsbridge ahead of his band’s 3Arena gig- dined in the steakhouse for over two hours and was happy to pose for pictures with locals after his meal.

“It was nice and low-key when he went on his way people were outside for a photograph and he was happy to do that after he had his two and a half hours of peace,” he said.

“No one bothering him, nobody tapping him on his shoulder so I think he kind of enjoyed that.”

Blown away by his meal in the idyllic sea-side town, the 71-year-old admitted to Ollie before he left he would review his experience on website TripAdvisor.

“And he’s going on Tripadvisor today to rate The Windmill Restaurant,” he revealed to Goss.ie.

“It’s pretty nice, I think people will probably go ‘that’s not really Roger Daltrey on TripAdvisor but when it goes on TripAdvisor it will actually be him.”

However the renowned musician’s kindness didn’t end there as the music man invited Ollie and his pubs local rock society backstage to tonight’s Dublin concert.

“We have what we call The Snug Rock Society,” he told Goss.ie.

“I was telling Roger about this last night and he thought this was class…so Roger said to me last night ‘Are you coming tomorrow?’ and I said ‘of course we’re going’ and he said ‘well you’re all backstage’,

“I didn’t really expect it at all – there’s 20 of us so it’ll only be once we get in there I’ll tell them,” he added.
