Ed Sheeran more popular than U2 for Irish fans in 2015

Ed Sheeran has been revealed as the most popular act to hit an Irish stage this year.

The 24-year-old singer songwriter played two sell-out gigs in Croke Park, that drew in a crowd of 160,000 over the two nights and received rave reviews.

Ed was voted Ticket of the Year 2015 by Ticketmaster Ireland customers, beating Irish rock stars U2 for their four night iNNOCENCE + eXPERIENCE homecoming gigs in the 3Arena last month.

Coming in third was music and arts festival Electric Picnic, which featured their most star-studded lineup to date including Florence + the Machine, Blur and Sam Smith.

Fleetwood Mac, who performed at the 3Arena in July were voted fourth in the list by Irish fans while Irish band The Script came in fifth with their incredible Croke Park gig in June.

Looking into next year, 2016’s most highly anticipated concert in Ireland is Adele’s sold out 3Arena gigs, with tickets selling out for the gigs in just THREE minutes last week.
