Bressie opens up on The Blizzards writing a new album

Bressie has opened up about The Blizzards writing their new album after reforming since their split back in 2009.

The band is set to play the Indiependence Music & Arts Festival in Cork this summer, but Bressie revealed that the newly reformed band want to focus more on writing their album rather than do hundreds of gigs.

“I think our goal when we started playing together again, it actually wasn’t for the gig, it was to write a new album,” he said on Breakfast Republic on 2FM.

Speaking about their decision to choose Indiependence as the first festival they’ll play at since getting back together, Bressie admitted that they have a bit of history with that particular festival.

“To be honest with you it was more us sitting in a room going, you know we really love to gig like thats what we love doing.

“It’s one thing writing an album but if thats all your doing, you need a bit of a release so we started looking at gigs.

“Indiependence was actually, we were one of the first people to ever play that in a town centre in Mitchelstown before it was as big as it is now.”

While the band is looking forward to their first live festival gig, they would find touring and writing an album hard to balance.

“So we just said lets give it a shot, and there might be a few more coming, but our priority is actually to write an album and its hard to do both sometimes.”

Bressie also revealed that he’s willing to bring back the guy liner trend now that the band is reforming.

“Absolutely, absolutely I’m gonna bring it back… I think current musicians are far too conservative,” he joked.
