Aidan Turner: 'I'll watch my new show at Christmas with my ma'

Aidan Turner has revealed that he plans to spend Christmas watching himself on the small screen with his mum.

The Irish actor stars in the BBC adaptation of Agatha Christie’s famous novel And Then There Were None.

Showing in three parts, the series depicts a group of strangers on an isolated island who get picked off one-by-one.

“I love that this is going out at Christmas. Hopefully it will hit the mark and people will be thrilled by it,” Aidan said.

“There’s something celebratory about doing Christie and Christmas. I can see myself sitting in and watching it with my Ma.”

Despite the huge success of Aidan’s hit TV show Poldark, the actor admitted he doesn’t get recognised too often on the street.

“It’s increased a little but it’s still not madness. When Poldark went out I was in Dublin for a few weeks and then the United States,” he told whatsontv.co.uk.

“There was a bit of activity when I was in the airport, but things are just the same.”

“People don’t tend to recognise me once I change my look, have a shave and cut my hair.”

Although he now rubs shoulders with the rich and famous, Aidan explained that he doesn’t get starstruck too often.

“Not by actors weirdly enough. Sports people and people with that kind of talent tend to do it for me, but I’m not naming people, I’d be so embarrassed,” he said.

“It’s a good thing actors don’t, it would make the job very difficult!”
