Here Come The Girls! 7 Things To Do This Galentine's Day

In life there’s no one like your gals pals who can bring you as much happiness, support and laughter day-to-day.

With this being a weekend about love for your nearest and dearest, why don’t you make this an extra special V Day with your girls.

With so many fun things happening this February 14, celebrate the weekend with the true loves of your lives with this Galentine’s Day inspiration:

1. A film marathon

While you might be tempted to stay in and order pizza, the Light House Cinema in Smithfield, Dublin is screening three flicks this February 14.

Amelia, The Birdcage and The War of the Roses have been specially curated for their love-inspired programme.

Starting from 3pm, grab your girls and use this as an excuse to stuff your face with copious amounts of popcorn, it would only be right.

2. Checkout the markets

While you’re down Dublin 7 way, you might as well pop into the Generator Hostel for their Smithfield Market Fair Valentines.

Opening from 12pm until 6pm, the venue will host more than 40 stalls selling romantic knick-knacks, vinyl, vintage clothing and everything in between.

The event boasts live music, yoga and a screening of everyone’s favourite movie Love Actually.

3. Tend to your mitts

If movies or shopping aren’t what you and your girls are looking to do this Galentine’s day – then a pamper sess for your nails might be the trick.

Sure what’s more delightful than getting your mitts tended to while you dish the dirt on all the latest Kardashian / Kanye scandal with your mates?

Goss HQ are big fans of Tropical Popical and their pineapple inspired salon – if it’s good enough for Oscar nominee Saoirse Ronan than it’s good enough for us all.

4. Find a date

Although you and your gals pals are enjoying the single life on V Day maybe you all still want to enjoy a bit of flirty banter.

Back for it’s second year, Love Me Tinder takes to The Bernard Shaw on Saturday night to gather those looking for love.

Brief relationship possibilities aside, any singleton that heads along and shows their Tinder app can get €3 glasses of prosecco all night long.

Bubbles make everything better…including people.

5. Run a muck

Galentine’s Day doesn’t have to just be about eating or pampering yourself into oblivion but rather going out and getting active with your friends.

If a challenge is what you’re searching for then the Valentine’s Day Muckfest in Tullow, Carlow is exactly that.

You know nothing says you love your friends like wading through a muddy pool of freezing waist deep water on a Sunday morning.

6. Sweet thing

coco bo

Chocolate is synonymous with Valentine’s Day so instead of expecting someone to buy you a box why don’t you and your girlfriends treat yourselves to making your own unique bar.

Coco Bó on Dublin’s O’Connell Street is just the spot to tantalise your tastebuds with their Made By Me counter which allows customers to personalised their chocolate bar using whatever ingredients and chocolate type they want.

However if you want to go a step further and see your chocolate go from bean to bar, head West to visit Hazel Chocolate Mountain in Bellharbour, Clare.

A 45 minute tour will take you and the gals through all the stages of chocolate making, followed by an all important tasting session.

7. Sing your heart out

When it comes to Valentine’s plans sure you could stay in with a bottle of vino watching The Notebook like you have for the past five years – wondering why Ryan Gosling hasn’t swept you off your feet (not speaking from experience at all).

But then again maybe it’s time to break tradition and go sing your heart out with the perfect power ballad.

MVP on Dublin’s Clanbrassil Street are hosting their Valentine’s Sing Your Heart Out while similar events are going on in Cork and Galway.

What could be more therapeutic then gathering your squad in a dimly lit pub screaming your heart out to the anthems of your teenage years? Can’t think of anything? We didn’t think so…
