UTV Ireland's The Pulse beats rival show Xposé in the ratings

UTV Ireland’s The Pulse has beaten their rival show TV3’s Xposé after receiving a higher average viewership in it’s first two weeks of broadcast.

The new entertainment show, hosted by Jenny Buckley, launched on Friday January 22 and brought in 87,000 viewers – thousands more than Xposé’s 54,800 audience on the same evening.

According to Independent.ie, the second episode of The Pulse that aired last Friday brought in an incredible audience of 93,000, compared to Xposé’s 61,700 ratings number.

Both shows share rivalry as they cover similar topics, including entertainment news and fashion, however The Pulse only airs once a week on Friday at 8pm, while Xposé airs every day at 6pm.

Jenny will be joined by stylist Holly White, who has previously appeared on Xposé, to bring regular fashion segments to the show, however Jenny is adamant the show will remain entertainment focused.

“I’ve known Holly for years and have real admiration for her as she’s brought her own business to life. She knows what’s going on and knows what works fashion-wise.

“But we will be mainly entertainment focused, out and about and covering all the different premieres,” Jenny told the Herald.

Exciting times ahead: Jenny says there is plenty more to come from The Pulse

Jenny kicked off The Pulse with a bang as the first episode saw interviews with Room director Lenny Abrahamson as well as Shane Richie and Jessie Wallace.

The second episode certainly didn’t disappoint either as it featured X Factor star Mary Byrne, The Big Short director Adam McKay and Emmerdale cast members Chris Chittel and Michelle Hardwick, as well as our Editor Ali Ryan who spoke about our upcoming awards ceremony The Gossies.

“The series offers a fresh alternative to entertainment news reporting for people of all ages, so we are delighted to see strong audiences for the first two programmes.

“We will be introducing new elements as the series continues and we also have some exciting plans for The Oscars at the end of the month,” host Jenny said.
