Mrs Brown's Boys the most-watched show on Irish TV this Christmas

Mrs Brown’s Boys: Mammy’s Christmas Punch was officially the most-watched programme this festive season on Irish TV, with just under 670,000 viewers tuning in to the Christmas special.

The hugely popular Christmas special, developed by Mrs Brown’s Boys creator Brendan O’Carroll, went down a hit with it further being watched by 72, 700 viewers on RTÉ One +1 on the same night.

Brendan O’Carroll had a very successful ratings run this Christmas, as Mrs Brown’s Boys D’Movie was also the most-watched item on Christmas Day, raking in a massive 591, 300 audience and a further 45, 500 viewers on +1.

The most-watched soap on Irish TV on Christmas Day was Fair City, pulling in 351,800 viewers for the hour-long festive episode.

Daniel O’Donnell’s loyal fans proved their worth on St Stephen’s Day as his Christmas special, Daniel O’Donnell and Friends, was the most watched entertainment show of the evening with 397, 200 viewers tuning in.

Daniel isn’t the only Irish singer to have loyal fans as thanks to Hozier, RTÉ 2 pulled in 97, 000 viewers on Christmas Day to watch the Hozier: Other Voices special.
