It’s official, an Irish version of Dancing With The Stars is set to air on RTÉ in 2017.
RTÉ One will air the show, which will see 11 celebrities paired with professional dancers to compete weekly with choreographed routines in a variation of dance styles.
The show, which will be produced by Shinawil for RTÉ, will replace The Voice of Ireland.
Exciting: An Irish version of Dancing With The Stars is on the way
Adrian Lynch, Channel Controller for RTÉ One and RTÉ2 said, “We are delighted to be bringing such a hugely popular format as Dancing with the Stars to RTÉ One.
“The show has been a global phenomenon, attracting huge audiences wherever it has aired and we are confident that Irish audiences will take this home-grown version to their hearts. Family entertainment shows are a cornerstone of what RTÉ One is all about.”
Everyone is already excited about the prospect of an Irish Dancing With The Star – which got us thinking about which celebrities will sign up. Here’s our top picks:
Laura Whitmore
Laura has already been rumoured to join the UK’s Strictly Come Dancing, but we thinks she’d be AMAZING on our own version of DWTS.
If she didn’t fancy getting her dancing shoes on, then she’d also make a pretty great host, don’t you agree?
Nicky Byrne
The Westlife star already wowed on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing, so it might be time for Nicky to show off his dancing skills on Irish shores.
We also think he’d make a great co-host (maybe with Laura Whitmore) – here’s hoping!
Vogue Williams
Not only does Vogue have legs for days, but she’s also clearly up for anything as she was crowned the winner of Bear Grylls’ Mission Survive last year.
We’re sure Vogue would make a great contestant on Dancing With The Stars – and she’s definitely fit enough for the challenge as a regular gym bunny.
She’d 100% be gas craic as well!
Rosanna Davison
The former Miss World would definitely add a bit of glamour to the Irish DWTS line-up.
Also a self-confessed fitness fanatic – we reckon Rosanna would be well able for the competition!
James Kavanagh
James Kavanagh, Snapchat superstar, would 100% be AMAZING on Dancing With The Stars.
And he’s already confirmed that he’d love to give it a go!
The Currabinny creator was on The Nicky Byrne Show on 2FM this morning, and said, “I’d love to enter! I can drop it, if there’s a poll – I can swing around it!”
James Patrice
Another king of the Snapchat universe, it’s pretty clear that James would be an amazing addition to the DWTS line-up.
The host with the most has already proved he’s got the skills on his Snapchat, as he regularly dances along to the latest tunes (mostly Britney).
We’re sure James would be the ultimate Dancing Dymphna!
Twink
Of course, Twink HAD to be on this list.
The Panto queen has already owned the stage.. so why not attempt to own the dance floor!
We reckon she’d be well up for the challenge!
Eoghan McDermott
We already know that Eoghan’s got his rapping skills down (ahem…) – but can he dance?!
Well, turns out.. he can, and he’s pretty damn good!
Don’t believe us? Check out the video below:
Brian Dowling
Brian would DEFINITELY bring the fun factor to DWTS.
He’s already conquered the Big Brother house, so why not show what he’s got on the dance floor?
We think he’d be an amazing character on the show!
Louis Walsh
How could Louis NOT make a great contestant on an Irish version of Dancing With The Stars?!
Known for speaking his mind, Louis is guaranteed to be television gold on the dance floor.
We’re not sure if they’d manage to book him though…
Miriam O’Callaghan
The Primetime host would definitely put her best foot forward for this competition.
While Miriam usually sticks to more serious topics, we’d love to see her let her hair down and have a bit of fun – she’d be well able!
Daniel O’Donnell
Naturally, Daniel O’Donnell HAS to be given a mention.
He’s already put his skills to the test on Strictly Come Dancing, so why not give it another bash?
It’s also no secret that Daniel’s fans are very passionate, so he could be in with a chance of winning!
Roz Purcell
Another well-known gym bunny, Roz would make a great contestant on DWTS.
Roz seems like the type of gal that gives everything her all, and we all know Roz loves to have the craic, so we reckon she’d have fun with it!
Nadine Coyle
Nadine has plenty of dancing experience from her Girls Aloud days, so we think she’d definitely be a contender for the DWTS line-up.
And of course, we’d love to have Nadine on our screens again!
Who remembers THAT ‘where’s me passport’ moment from Popstars?
