Dublin renters BANNED from hosting Airbnb sublets

Residents at Dublin’s Spencer Dock are banned from subletting their apartments on Airbnb and other sites.

The popular short-term renting site is used internationally by landlords and renters to sublet their homes or properties to guests worldwide.

“[AirBNB will have a] seriously negative impact on all residents in Spencer Dock by taking away their right to live in their homes in peace and quiet,” Indigo Property Management said.

The reasoning behind the ban is so that resident can live peacefully in their homes and maintain Spencer Dock as a better and safe place to live.

“The intention of this process is to protect and maintain Spencer Dock as a better place to live which will, in turn, safeguard and enhance the value and security of your homes/investments and protect rental yields,” a letter from the property company, obtained by Dublin Live, stated.

This is not the first time that renters have been told not to sublet on Airbnb, as an apartment in Temple Bar came under fire for being let out short-term without planning permission.
