It’s Tom Hardy’s 39th birthday today – so we’ve decided to honour our favourite hunk.
The Mad Max: Fury Road actor is not only brilliant on-screen, he’s also charitable, has an AMAZING accent, AND loves animals.
To celebrate Tom’s 39th birthday, we’ve listed just some of the reasons he’s our fave:
1. He’s A Gentleman
Tom is widely known in the industry as a big supporter of women in film, and plenty of people will vouch for his charm.
Charlotte Riley (Tom’s wife) told Elle in 2012: “He’s chivalrous, I have to stop him from standing up for a woman’s honor all the bloody time”.
Tom even told Esquire in 2007 that he wore dresses as a kid to help his mum out, “Well, my mum makes dresses so I’ve had to be pinned into a few dresses in my time… anything to oblige.” Aw Tom clearly loves his mum.
Tom isn’t just supportive of his friends, when rumours arose of a clash between him and Charlize Theron from Mad Max came about he told Esquire that he thinks the rumours are disappointing and said, “I think she’s f**king awesome. I think she’s incredible. I think she’s one of the most talented actresses of our generation.”
2. He Brought His Dog To A Premiere
Tom took his dog Woody to the premiere of his film Legend in London last year, and it was absolutely adorable.
Tom looked very handsome in a three-piece suit with his dog Woody beside him – who wore a bow tie!
Instead of bringing a date the English actor decided to bring his dog to the movie premiere, making us love him even more.
3. When Tom Appeared on For The Love Of Dogs
As we’ve already made clear.. Tom Hardy is a big time dog lover – and so Paul O’Grady decided to bring him on his show For The Love Of Dogs.
When on the show Tom said he was only there for a cuddle, but soon met adorable pooch Titch – and completely fell in love with him.
“Titch is cut from my very fabric, he feels like an extension already of me and my family.”
Sadly Tom didn’t adopt Titch because of his own rescue pup Woody, “He’s fantastic. If I didn’t have another dog I’d take him home today.”
4. He’s BFFs with Leonardo DiCaprioÂ
This is pretty self-explanatory, but Tom is besties with Leonardo di Caprio.
The pair both starred in The Revenant together, and have been close pals ever since.
What a bromance!
5. He Played Two Roles Himself in Legend
Tom, as we all know, is an incredible actor – and can literally play almost any character.
In his movie Legend, he plays Reggie and Ronnie Krey, identical twin brothers with completely different personalities.
Playing two identical characters in a film is not an easy job -especially when both characters are on-screen at the same time for most of the film, hats off to you Tom.
6. He’s A Reformed Bad Boy
Tom is a reformed bad boy, which makes him all the more charming.
As a teen, Tom struggled with drugs and alcohol – and even blames his struggles with addiction for the end of his 5-year marriage to Sarah Ward.
Tom has previously said that his son Louis helped him quit drugs.
“After the birth of my son is when the penny dropped that there was no longer very much time for me to think about myself anymore.
“There is somebody now on the planet who really needs me to get my act together and focus on something that is more important than me.”
7. He is Dad Goals
Tom Hardy is one of the cutest celebrity dads there is.
Tom and his son are the cutest pair, although Tom comes across as the tough guy – he’s a total softy around his son.
He even walked around the streets rapping with Louis as a baby, we’ve got the footage right here.
8. He’s Open and HonestÂ
Tom has never been afraid to speak his mind, he’s very honest and has a confident personality – which just makes him even more attractive.
Who else remembers when he was asked about his sexuality by an interviewer and he totally shut them down? Good on you Tom.
