Another year has gone by, and we’ve had to say goodbye to some of our favourite celebrity couples.
From married a-listers to short-term lovers, these celebs have had their fair share of heartbreak this year, so let’s hope 2019 brings them luck in the love department.
But first, let’s take a look back at some of the most heartbreaking celebrity splits of 2018:
1. Channing Tatum & Jenna Dewan
Fans were left absolutely devastated when Channing and Jenna confirmed their split back in April.
The a-list couple met on the set of ‘Step Up’ in 2005, and went on to tie the knot in 2009.
Despite their split, the former couple have remained on good terms, and they have both moved on romantically.
Channing is now dating British singer Jessie J, and Jenna is dating Tony award-winning actor Steve Kazee.
2. Robert De Niro & Grace Hightower
Robert de Niro and Grace Hightower split this year, after 21 years together.
The actor released a sweet statement to ‘People’ asking for respect and privacy, and explained, “We are entering a period of transition in our relationship which is a difficult but constructive process.”
The couple originally wed in 1997, however Robert filed for divorce from Grace in 1999, before the pair reconciled once again.
3. Paris Hilton & Chris Zylka
Another shocking split this year was Paris Hilton and Chris Zylka.
The couple were together for two years, and got engaged in January.
The 37-year-old was continuously showing off her engagement ring on social media, and the couple seemed seriously loved-up.
However, the pair decided to call it quits in November.
4. Ariana Grande & Pete Davidson
Of course, Pete Davidson and Ariana Grande have to be on this list.
The former couple got engaged after just a few weeks of dating in May, and flaunted their romance all over social media.
However, the pair called off their engagement in October, a few weeks after Ariana’s ex-boyfriend Mac Miller died of an overdose.
5. Brandon Jenner & Leah Felder
Another sweet couple that everyone knows from ‘Keeping Up With The Kardashians’ split after fourteen years together this year.
They married six years ago, and have one daughter together.
The pair announced the news of their split on Instagram, and both posted the same statement on their own personal accounts, explaining that they both still love each other very much – but not in a romantic way.
6. Cheryl & Liam Payne
Cheryl and Liam Payne’s split hit headlines all over the world when they finally confirmed their split in July, after two and a half years of dating.
The exes share their son Bear, who they welcomed into the world in March 2017.
Both Cheryl and Liam shared the same statement on Twitter, saying it was a ‘difficult decision’ and requested privacy for their son.
7. Binky Felstead and Josh Patterson
The ‘Made In Chelsea’ stars started dating in 2015, and had an on-off relationship until 2017 when they found out they were expecting a baby.
The pair welcomed their baby girl, India, in June 2017 – but decided to split a year later in September 2018.
Despite their split, the former couple remain on good terms.
8. Jennifer Aniston & Justin Theroux
We couldn’t believe the news when Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux announced their split.
The couple were together for seven years, and tied the knot in 2015.
In their breakup statement, they said they were still “best friends” and will continue their “cherished friendship”.
9. Kourtney Kardashian & Younes Bendjima
Kourtney and Younes started dating in 2016, but split earlier this year.
The couple regularly went on exotic holidays together, and the KUWTK star even introduced Younes to her three kids.
However, their romance fizzled out in August.
The pair didn’t release an official breakup statement, but unfollowed each other on Instagram.
10. P Diddy & Cassie
One of the music industry’s favourite couples split this year.
The pair were first linked in 2007, but officially went public with their relationship in 2012.
Reps for Diddy and Cassie had no comment, but a source told PEOPLE “the decision was amicable and they remain friends.”
11. Brooklyn Beckham & Chloe Mortez
Brooklyn and Chloe have had an on-off relationship since 2016.
But earlier this year, the pair officially split for what seems like the last time.
Neither released an official statement regarding their split, but Brooklyn has since been spotted with a number of rumoured love interests.
12. G-Eazy & Halsey
The rapper and singer are notorious for their on-again-off-again relationship, but it seems like they’ve split for ‘good’ this time.
Halsey confirmed the news on her Instagram Story, saying the couple were ‘taking some time apart.’
13. Vicky Pattison & John Noble
Our hearts were breaking for Vicky Pattison last month, when she confirmed her split from John Noble.
The reality star got engaged to the businessman last year and was in the middle of planning their fairytale wedding when John sparked rumours that he had been unfaithful on a boys trip in Dubai.
The former Geordie Shore star eventually dumped John, and has been focusing on work ever since.
14. Nikki Bella & John Cena
The WWE star couple broke up twice this year, but are officially finished now.
The pair got engaged last year, but never walked down the aisle.
The couple reportedly split over plans to start a family.
15. Cardi B & Offset
Fans were shocked when Cardi B announced her split from Offset earlier this month.
The couple secretly tied the knot last year, and welcomed a daughter named Kulture in July 2018.
The rapper announced her plans to divorce Offset amid claims that he was unfaithful, and the Migos star has been trying to win her back ever since.
16. Niall Horan & Hailee Steinfeld
While Niall and Hailee first sparked romance in late 2017, they didn’t go public with their romance until this year.
The pair were spotted together on numerous occasions, and were even papped kissing on the street in Los Angeles.
But sadly, their romance didn’t seem to last as Goss.ie exclusively revealed that Niall has been spotted on celebrity dating app Raya in recent weeks.
