The Strypes announce they are splitting up

The Strypes have announced they are splitting up.

The Cavan rock band formed in 2011 and drew inspiration for their unique sound from blues and 70s rock.

The foursome, consisting of members Ross Farrelly, Josh McClorey, Pete O’Hanlon and Evan Walsh, shocked fans with their announcement this morning.

The Cavan natives released a statement on Twitter, which said: “Over the past 7 years we have played in toilets and theatres, in cafés and castles, from Scotshouse to Tokyo and back again.”

“We’ve been in bedrooms and buses, planes, trains and automobiles. We’ve been on telly, on radio and on record. It’s been fun and exciting, dull and dangerous, easy, tough, frustrating, satisfying and amazing. It’s been a life and a living. ”

“Thank you all. See you in the next cartoon! Ross, Josh, Pete & Ev,” the band finished.

The Strypes have seen huge success since their formation seven years ago, as they supported Arctic Monkeys on their tour in 2013, they also performed on Late Show with David Letterman and celebs such as Noel Gallagher and Elton John were known fans of the band.
