The 71st Emmy Awards saw comedic triumph for beloved TV show Fleabag.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge’s creation snapped up most of the comedy awards on the night.
The series began as her one-woman show at the Edinburgh fringe festival, before she jotted the concept down into a script.

The show won the award for best comedy, beating out competition from heavy-weights such as Veep and The Marvelous Mrs Maisel.
Phoebe Waller-Bridge was awarded the accolades for lead actress and outstanding writing in the category.
She began her third acceptance speech by saying “This is just getting ridiculous.”

The star thanked her Fleabag “family” in her acceptance speech, and said that she found it reassuring that a “dirty, pervy, messed-up woman can make it to the Emmys.”
“The journey has been absolutely mental,” she confessed.
