Modern Family set to kill off a ‘significant character’

Fans are in for some upset...

Modern Family fans are in for some sad news, as a “significant character” is set to be killed off in the show’s tenth season.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, the show’s co-creator Christopher Lloyd said, “We’re handling some bigger life events in this season.”

“”We do deal with a death, which is certainly a topic that families have to deal with, and on television, it’s not easy to do because that’s a heavy subject.”

“But at the same time, it would seem unusual for a family not to go through it.”

Christopher teased that it will be a “significant character on the series” and the death will have “repercussions across several episodes”.

Modern Family first aired in 2009, and stars Ed O’Neill as Jay Pritchett, Sofía Vergara as Gloria Pritchett, Julie Bowen as Claire Dunphy, Ty Burrell as Phil Dunphy, Jesse Tyler Ferguson as Mitchell Pritchett, Eric Stonestreet as Cameron Tucker, Sarah Hyland as Haley Dunphy, Ariel Winter as Alex Dunphy, Nolan Gould as Luke Dunphy, and Rico Rodriguez as Manny Delgado.
