Meghan Markle denies claims that her baby shower cost $300,000 in court documents

Meghan Markle is setting the record straight on her baby shower in court.

The event was held at New York’s Mark Hotel in the penthouse suite, and guests included Serena Williams, Amal Clooney and best friend Jessica Mulroney.

Meghan Markle is suing the UK Mail on Sunday for damages following the publication of a number of articles which she claimed are untrue, including stories about her baby shower.

In court documents acquired by HELLO!, the papers claim that Meghan is refuting claims made by the publication that her baby shower cost over $300,00.

She also denies claims that she snubbed her own mother at the event, and that no members of the party knew her for a long period of time.

“The suggestion that (Meghan) deliberately left out her mother from her baby shower and ditched her in favour of her famous friends is untrue and offensive to her,” Meghan’s lawyers reportedly claim.

“The Claimant’s mother was of course invited, and the Claimant also offered to buy her airline tickets. However, her mother was unable to attend due to work commitments.”

“It was also untrue and offensive to suggest, as the article does, that ‘not a single guest had known her for more than a decade’.”

“In fact, the true position was that the baby shower (which actually cost a tiny fraction of the $300k falsely stated in the article) was organised and hosted by one of her best friends from university; the fifteen guests who attended the shower were close friends and included long-term friendships some of which had existed for over 20 years.”

Meghan’s baby shower was held back in February of 2019.
