Martin McDonagh avoids BAFTA winning speech for Best British Film: ‘I’m half Irish’

Irish director Martin McDonagh avoiding giving a winners speech at the BAFTAs.

The celebrated director behind movies like In Bruges and Seven Psychopaths, won for his hugely successful film Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

But when it came to his acceptance speech, Martin told the audience: “I’m half irish so I’m not able to make a speech for this.”

He laughed and quickly let his team accept the award on his behalf.
