Love Island star Sophie Gradon revealed her battle with depression months before her death

The reality star was also struggling with the loss of her friend Paul Burns

Love Island star Sophie Gradon revealed her battle with depression and anxiety just months before her death, it has been revealed.

The former Miss Great Britain, who starred on the hit reality show in 2016, was found dead at her home near Newcastle last night at the age of 32.

Since the news of her death broke, it’s been revealed that Sophie was “privately struggling with depression”.

Last year, Sophie told concerned fans on Twitter, “Hi guys, no not dead just battling a little bit of depression. I’ll come back I promise x”.

Then in October, she tweeted, “Feel so guilty when my anxiety takes over, for not wanting to see or speak to anyone. Some days I get so overwhelmed I just want to nap!”

Meanwhile, a close friend told The Sun Online that Sophie was struggling to cope after the death of her friend Paul Burns, whose funeral she attended last week.

Paul was a popular nightclub owner in Newcastle, and was good friends with former Geordie Shore star Vicky Pattison.

The friend said, “She had been privately struggling with depression but close friends thought she was in a great place as she was madly in love with her boyfriend and life was good.”

“However her good friend Paul Burns died and it affected her very badly. She struggled to cope with it and fell into a dark place.”

Her pal added, “She was a loving and loyal friend who wouldn’t hurt a soul.”

Meanwhile, Love Island viewers have grown concerned for new girl Ellie Brown, as it’s been revealed that she was friends with Sophie.
