Love Island: Michael reveals he will pursue Joanna after leaving the villa

Love Island alum Michael was swiftly dumped from the island tonight, after his fellow contestants decided that he and Francesca were the most deserving of leaving.

The firefighter’s time in the villa was full of drama, as he dumped his original partner Amber in favour of newcomer Joanna in the Casa Amor challenge.

His choice came as a shock to many, as Michael and Amber were one of the favourites to win the show.

Joanna was booted from the island just a few weeks later, and Michael chose not to leave with her. Since Joanna went, Michael had attempted to get back together with Amber, admitting he still had feelings for her.

This upset Joanna, who was watching from outside the villa.

However, upon leaving the show, Michael told ITV2 that he would be contacting Joanna to make amends.

“I’m going to try and talk to Joanna but I know that she’ll have seen what’s gone on and I hope she understands I needed to make up to Amber,” he said.

“There was always going to be a natural draw between me and Amber because of how friendly we were. I did think about Joanna every day that she wasn’t there.”

“She was always on my mind and I will try to speak to her.”

When asked would he do anything different if he could go back, he said: “I wouldn’t change anything with Amber and Joanna. I wanted to couple up with Joanna as the interest was there.”

The firefighter also shared his true feelings about Amber and Limerick rugby player Greg’s relationship.

“I did say I didn’t see Amber and Greg lasting but having spoken to her since I have seen more of them and seen how nice he is. Any conversation I’ve had with him has been really sweet and he has been so respectful about the situation,” he said.

“I said she needs to get to know him and give him a chance. Having seen them together more I see it working. He makes her smile and makes her laugh and she hasn’t instantly put her walls up with him. When I see him make her smile, it makes me smile,” he finished.

Love Island continues tomorrow night at 9pm on Virgin Media Two.
