Liam Payne has revealed he and Louis Tomlinson used to “hate” each other.
The bandmates didn’t get along at all during the early stages of One Direction’s success – after they were formed on The X Factor back in 2010.
Speaking on Hits Radio, Liam said: “When we were in the band it kind of felt like, because he was the oldest and because I’d been singing for quite a bit of time, we both got put in a weird position.
“He was wanting to be the leader and I was doing my thing and wanted to. So at first we didn’t get on at all,” he confessed.
“We absolutely hated each other, it was so funny. Really bad. We hid it well.”
Thankfully, Liam and Louis eventually became friends, and have remained close since One Direction went on hiatus in 2016.
Just last weekend, the pair linked up in Madrid, where they were both performing.
Liam shared a photo with Louis on Instagram, and wrote: “Thanks for having me Madrid! Had a lot of fun last night. Good luck to @louist91 tonight for his first solo headline gig.”
The news comes after Liam revealed he hasn’t spoken to former bandmate Harry Styles in a long time, while speaking about a possible 1D reunion.
