Caitriona Balfe has admitted that she’s “lucky” that she has never experienced sexual harassment in the entertainment industry.

The Irish actress, who has rose to fame in the US for her role in hit series Outlander, wore black on the 2018 Film and Drama Awards red carpet tonight in support of the ongoing Time’s Up movement.

Speaking to Goss.ie about her decision to wear black, she said, “I wasn’t sure what the women were doing tonight, but I just thought it would be nice to continue that message throughout the awards season.”

“It’s good to keep the conversation going,” she continued.

When asked if she’s ever experienced anything in the industry, she said, “I got back into this business later on, I was 30, so I was very lucky, I kind of got to bypass a lot of the pitfalls I think that happened to younger actresses.

“But, you know, it’s not just sexual assault, it’s a lot of just inequality and I think there’s a great movement, the 50/50 movement, which is about getting equal pay – and I think that has affected all of us,” she added.
