Aoibhín Garrihy has been pregnancy goals as she’s continued to be a style icon looking magnificent in maternity wear, bossing her BEO business and keeping up her fitness over the last seven months.
The latter point on that list cause some controversy over the weekend when some of her followers called her “so irresponsibly silly” for enjoyed a jaunt up Carrauntoohil with her husband.
She posted a photo on Instagram after reaching the summit which said, “When you’ve a great guide with you the sky’s the limit (or the top of Carrauntoohil)! #ProbablyOurLastOneAsADuo”
One follower wrote called Avril wrote, “So irresponsibly silly wow.”
To which the mum-to-be replied, “I’m afraid I’ll have to disagree with you Avril. As my husband is an experienced climber, safety has always been paramount for us. Everyone’s body and capabilities are different especially during pregnancy but on a fine day with no wind and great support I took my time and to be honest I can’t think of a nicer way to spend the day…7 months pregnant! #pregnantnotpowerless”
Fans overwhelming supported her decision to climb the peak with her husband, who has climbed Everest, and praised her for keeping up her fitness.
But one other follower called Ciara said, “Don’t be foolhardy Aoibhinn. Your husband isn’t a doctor and if something happened to you on that mountain, it’s the emergency services would be bailing you out, not an “experienced climber” Pregnancy is unpredictable.”
Ciara was slated for her comment with fans saying that Aoibhínn should just stay housebound, “Life is unpredictable. By your logic, no one would ever leave the house.”
“She could go to the local Aldi and there are no doctors there to my knowledge.”
Dr Doireann O’Leary praised the Garrihy gal saying, “There are women who smoke and drink during pregnancy, miss scans and appointments etc. Getting some exercise and keeping fit is not irresponsible behaviour during pregnancy. Well done, Aoibhín!”
The majority of fans praised her for enjoying herself and embarking on a casual climb, “Amazing ???????? Don’t even need to justify yourself Aoibhin!! What a lovely way to spend the day with your hubby and bump – inspiration for other mumma’s to be – go you!!”
“Ya it’s silly of her alright, silly that she has to justify herself to the usual negative nannies on here. It’s her business what she want to do whether she’s 7 months pregnant.”
